Leum Olszewski and Amanda McNerney farm next to the Imnaha River: "Deep in the Eagle Cap wilderness springs forth the pure, clean, crystalline waters of the Imnaha river. This nectar of the Gods meanders its way down through rugged canyons and iconic landscapes to combine itself with rich, fertile ground to create a place spoken about in legends, Imnaha!
"With the likes of this legendary environment and a family dedicated to the Old-World practices of permaculture and sustainable land use, we aim to bring Imnaha back to its former glory of the breadbasket of Wallowa County. Our practices can easily be described as a small family farm pre-WWII, a time when no one knew of toxic petrochemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. We employ the same ideas of crop and animal rotation, hand and mechanical weeding, companion planting and good old fashioned hard work that created the food that grew the longest living generations to date. Food that didn't need to be called organic because what else could it be? And certainly not 'certified organic' where they approve the use of spray pesticides that are clearly labeled with a skull and crossbones.
"As Hippocrates says, 'Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food,' or as Leum would say 'pay your farmer not your doctor.' As such, we grow fruits and vegetables that are clearly vibrant and with absolute vitality that honors the land and animals surrounding us. The food our bodies were designed to run optimally on. Food so good, it is simply the best, Imnaha's Best!"
